The full scope of this job was as follows:

PART 1

Re-seam the Flybridge, 19 steps, Aft Deck and lower walkways. This involved cutting and routing the seams to remove the old caulk. Sanding and cleaning the seams before re-caulking. Thereafter the decks were sanded to restore them to a beautiful golden color.

PART 2

Installing new decks on the bow, upper walkways and swim platform. This involved the following steps:

  • Building a template of the decks
  • Rip-out and removal of the bow and upper walkways, as well as two steps and the swim platform
  • Fairing and sanding the decks to allow for proper camber and drainage
  • Fabricating and installing new 5/8″ thick decks and steps

At the Owner’s request the work was carried out behind his House in the Southport area. This creates potential issues in terms of noise and dust. In order to minimize these elements as much as possible, we built a tent covering the bow, upper walkways and swim platform. This combined with our vacuum attached tools eliminated the risk of dust becoming an issue for the owner, his crew or neighbors, as well as the potential risk of water contamination. We were also sure to remove our trash each evening so that it did not become an eyesore for the owner or neighbors. The tent also provided a dry environment and for the most part stood up well against heavy rainfall and fairly strong winds at that time. Ongoing maintenance kept the tent in good shape throughout the project.

After the commencement of work, the Captain changed the design and shape of two bow hatches. As a result, once those hatches had been installed, we rebuilt templates of this area to incorporate the new design into the deck that we were in the process of building  (See the oval shaped hatch photo below).

With regard to Lady Pegasus, she is a 74-foot Cheoy Lee Sport Motor Yacht. Built in 2002 she accommodates 8 plus crew. Captain Evan Calleia and his dedicated and professional crew keep her ship shape and Bristol fashion at all times. The new and refinished decks compliment the overall appearance of this fine vessel and will no doubt bring pleasure to its owner and guests for years to come.
